Artificial intelligence (AI)
Artificial intelligence (AI) has once again reached a new high as its new forms of generated art have garnered a great number of followers, subsequently sparking controversy among traditional artists. Beneficially, AI creates efficient content provided with different variations of well-designed templates, showing how it can create thousands of art varying from different concepts in just a short amount of time. Subsequently, AI has the ability to produce multiple renditions and rough drafts with just a click of a button, requiring less dependency on artists which reduces the time taken to perform a task.
Artificial Intelligence art has the potential to be used in furniture design as long as it is created with human interactivity. Future homeowners take time from conceptualization thus, AI could help them conceptualize with the production of a series of designs within seconds.
“I’m all for AI because it makes things easier— it shouldn’t be difficult for it to be good. We shouldn’t gate-keep that kind of thing. Just with the proper monitoring, of course. We’re still learning about this.”
– Christian Leneuva, AI Artist
“At this point we’re at a crossroad there are ethical and unethical. On the hand of the right people it can be in good use, it’s just a tool to help. The power lies on the person’s hand”
– Fidel Laurence Ricafranca, Instructor of the product design program & manager in the Fab-lab at UP Cebu
